  Detroit 300
2002

The Society solicited for and won three contracts by Detroit 300 to construct three qult tops used to drape the Underground Railroad statue at an unveiling ceremony. The Society also taught a workshop for family and friends at Hart Plaza where they painted quilt blocks for the event. The blocks were pieced together by the Society and draped over the statue. The statue points towards the Canadian side of the lake where the slaves would cross.
